Christmas break comes early!

We had another snow day today. It was actual a day off due to the ice storm we had. Garland and I had to take Thursday off so that we could get fingerprinted in Naperville.....again. I think this was our 12th set of prints if I add everything up right. The weatherman was calling for 4-10 inches of snow for the Chicago area and up to 3/4 inch of ice for our area. It was all supposed to start around 3:00 Thursday afternoon. We were fortunate that our appointment time was 8:00 a.m. We didn't dilly-dally on our way home.

The nastiness didn't end up starting until late in the evening but it didn't take long for the ice to accumulate. We ended up with 1/4 - 1/2 inch ice on everything. The temperatures rose to just above freezing today and melted a little bit of it, but most everything is still covered.

Here are several pictures. Click to enlarge to see all the cool details. The ice in some of the close-up pictures looks like it has patterns on it of some time. I think it's just where it was crackled, but it is so cool.

Apple and I took advantage of the day and made homemade donuts. I remember making donuts on snow days with my family when I was a kid. I don't think I had ever actually made them on my own. They turned out pretty good though!

My Christmas break was extended a day and a half due to the vacation day yesterday and the snow day today. We go back to school January 6th. That's 20 days off if you count weekends!

Dave and I went to Naperville less than two weeks earlier for our fingerprints. We've only been printed six times:-)
