Garland and I just returned from a very relaxing vacation with his brother and his family. We left Friday, July 20th for Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. It's Burt family tradition to vacation/fish there!! This year we were missing Garland's parents as they stayed home to take care of things here. We took two vehicles up. Gary and Melissa pulled the boat; Garland and I pulled the jet ski. We headed up on Friday and stayed the first night at Black River Falls, Wisconsin. We had an exciting trip up talking back and forth on the two-way radios and playing games with Colby (I-Spy, Bibbity-bobbity-boo, etc.). We arrived at the cabin Saturday afternoon. We did a lot of fishing during our time there bringing back probably 150-175 crappie, bass, and bluegill. We made a trip to the Mall of America one day. Garland had been there when he was a kid, but this was my first trip. Wow....that is way too much mall for me. We had a lot of fun just people-watching though! Colby conned Garland into a few games at the Amusement Park.

The rest of the week we would get up and fish early in the morning, then come back and rest at the cabin, then fished again in the evening. It was a very nice relaxing trip. Here are a few pictures for your viewing pleasure!

And here is Colby entertaining us on the trip to Mall of America. NOTE: As I type this, I am watching Fox News about the bridge collapse in Minneapolis. We were on that exact week ago today. They were resurfacing it then, but it didn't look like major construction or anything like that.
