One Year Anniversary!

It's official...it is 12:05 a.m. on August 2nd (although blogger says it's still August 1st). We are ONE YEAR into the wait. Looking back to my post from this time last year, we were thinking the wait would be around 13 months. I thought that was a long time, yet here we are at 12 months already and absolutely no clue as to when we will be next. Truth be told, we have really been waiting one year and eight months since we started this process in December 2005.

The good news is that we are getting closer to being in the review room at the CCAA. In other words, we are still waiting for China to review our paperwork to say that we can adopt, but we are nearing that point. Here is an image that is on the CCAA web site that shows where they are in the line of waiting dossiers.

The CCAA just finished reviewing files that were logged in through June 30, 2006. We should be in review anytime in the next month. I am really looking forward to seeing a date listed there that is past August 2, 2006!! Then we will know that we are officially good to go. Once we are through the review process, then our paperwork will go and sit on a shelf again until it is time to be matched to a baby's file. Here are a few pictures of the CCAA. You can see, there are a LOT of files waiting.

Files waiting to be matched...already through the review process.

So where are we in the line of waiting families? The CCAA has sent referrals for dossiers logged in up through November 14th. I made a table to show how many dates were included in the referrals sent out this year. This will give you an idea as to how quickly...errrr...slowly things are moving.

In other words, since the beginning of the year, they have only gotten through two months worth of dossiers. If things continue on this path to where it takes seven months to get through two months worth of dossiers, then you can see that we have a long wait ahead of us. There is nine months between our log in date and where they are at now. Because of this, we are looking into the option of switching to special needs adoption with China. We will meet with our social worker in the next week or two to discuss this option. Most special needs children have conditions that are repairable with surgery. If we get our name on that list, there is a possibility that we could receive a referral faster. I will keep the blog updated with what I find out at our meeting.

In closing, I will say that this has been the fastest year of my life. I cannot believe it has been twelve months since our log in date. Tomorrow I will send our request to Immigration to have our fingerprints re-done (they expire after 18 months). Then we will also have to get our homestudy updated soon to reflect our move. So, we will have a few things to keep us occupied.

Keep checking back for updates..........and pray for a speed up!! :)

I just read your comments on our blog and was thrilled to know there are fellow Minier residents going through International adoption right now. Our phone number is in the phone book, so look us up and give me a call sometime. Would love to chat and follow your journey to Sadie.
