It's official!! DTC 07-20-2006

D T C 07-20-2006

We are DTC (Dossier to China)!!!! Our dossier was sent yesterday!!! I received an e-mail early this morning from our social worker. The date a dossier is sent to China signifies a completion of the paperchase and the beginning of the long, unknown wait time until we are matched with Sadie and receive her referral photographs. I didn't expect to be DTC for at least three or four weeks! This was only TWO DAYS after I sent it to Lifelink!!!

Soon we will receive information on the other families who are in our DTC group. These couples (or it could be a single person too) will travel with us to China to get our babies at the same time. Over the next year, I am sure we all come to know each other very well.

We now wait to receive our log-in date (LID). That is the day that the CCAA (China Center for Adoption Affairs) logs our paperwork into their system. Currently the wait time from LID to referral is at 13 months. It is very unpredictible if that timeframe will stay the same, increase, or decrease. It all depends on how quickly China is able to process the dossiers ahead of us, how many babies are available that have their paperwork ready, and so many other unknown factors.

We started our journey back in December and it has taken almost 8 months to complete the paperwork phase. Although there were times that I thought we would never be DTC, these eight months really did fly by. I'm only hoping that the next eight or more fly by too!! Of course after we bring her home, I will want time to stand still!!

I'll update again as soon as I get our LID!!

Julie,

Just checked in and saw the good news. Congratulations!! All that hard work finally paid off! I kind of chuckled when I read "those eight months just flew by." It sure didn't seem like it when you were in the middle of it all did it? It's amazing how time morphs once you get some progress. You watch, during this new wait it will seem to drag and there will be days that it seems you just can't stand the wait any longer and then before you know it, we'll be reading "She's here! Man that time just flew by." :-)
I'm so happy for you that you are on to the next phase. Praying that everyone moves super quick from here on out. So exciting!!
